Summer Study Abroad Program in Budapest (July)

This exciting summer program lets students experience the beautiful and historic city of Budapest while earning credit at Corvinus University. Corvinus University was founded in 1920 and is accredited by the Hungarian ministry of education. The program provides studies in business, economics, society and cultures of Central and East European countries.  The courses include business, economics and social sciences.

  • Global Economy and International Trade -Is China really financing American consumption? Did you know that 66% of the world’s banana trade is in the hands of three companies? Have you heard that the global trading system almost collapsed at the end of 2013? With the help of the course you will explore the very exciting world of the global economy and the international trading system. No conventional lectures, lots of discussions and fun. 
  • Case Studies in Finance - This case study based course deals with selected issues of Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and Business Valuation. We will take most of the seminars in the Financial Laboratory, where we have Bloomberg Terminals – the course will also help students to get all kinds of financial and statistical data.
  • Economics of Post-Communist Countries - Students will understand the processes of institutional and economic change in transition from a centrally-planned to a market economy of post-communist countries. They will learn about the major economic challenges faced by countries, such as liberalisation, stabilisation, privatisation and financial sector reforms. The historical perspective on transition will be complemented by a discussion of current issues in transition economies and a discussion of the relevance of the transition experience to the wider issue of economic development.
  • International Development, Project Analysis - The goal of the course is to get the students involved in project evaluation and monitoring in a development assistance context. By completing this course the students will be more aware on issues connected to development economics and shall be also provided with the tools on how to make successful bids to various international organizations and development assistance implementing agencies. The course contains both theoretical parts and both practical parts.

Fees can be paid in USD or by credit card in any currency upon request.

Admission Requirements

  • Application deadline: April 14th (Contact us for late applications)
  • The program accepts both graduate and undergraduate students
  • The student must have at least a 2.5 grade point average on a scale of 4.0 or an equivalent good standing at the home university
  • Admission is based on the student’s university transcript, application and English language knowledge
  • It is required that a student applying for admission must have at least one year (2 semesters) finished at his/her university

Visa information
Since the duration of the summer program is only 2 weeks students do not need a student visa.

 Housing in Budapest

Students are housed in nice accommodation at the Földes Ferenc Kollégium (Corvinus Dormitory) dorm within walking distance of the university. The dorm has been totally reconstructed. There is a community kitchen for cooking and socializing and a laundry room. Rooms have an attached bathroom with a shower.
