Spring Study Abroad Program in Krakow 
(Feb-Jun)

The program allows students to spend the spring in the beautiful and historical city of Krakow while earning credit at Jagiellonian University! Jagiellonian University was founded in 1364 and is accredited by the Polish ministry of education. 

The program focuses on the Polish language and Polish culture. We offer Polish language courses, lectures on Polish culture, history and art, as well as on social, political and economic issues. Additionally, there is a rich and varied tourist and cultural program. Classes are held in the historic buildings of the centuries-old university.

Course choices

  • Introducing the European Union - the objective of the course is to provide students with introductory knowledge about the European Union, its geography, political system, history, law, institutional architecture, policies, civic and societal issues, and recent developments 
  • Globalisation and Global Governance - the course will explore the main themes of globalization. The shrinking world needs new rules and institutions to manage the interconnectedness and interdependence – global governance (“new governance”). In this context, we will explore the changing nature of international relations and the redefined role of the state (“old governance”)
  • Jewish Religion, Culture and Society in CEE before 1939 - the course will focus on Jewish history, culture and identity in central and eastern europe before 1939
  • The Jews in Central Europe: The Holocaust and its Aftermath, 1939 to Today - the course presents the history of Central European Jews during the Holocaust and post Holocaust period. Showing various aspects of the Holocaust, its history and consequences, but also the sociological and psychological aspects, will be the background to understand the postwar history of the Jews
  • The EU in the Global Economy: Challenges and Achievements - the main goal of the course is to introduce students to the EU economy, and its recent developments. The course will begin with the presentation of evolution of European economic system. Then the contemporary situation of the EU economy will be covered, placing it in the global scene. The course will conclude with the analysis of current economic and political crises in Europe
  • Western European Politic and Transatlantic Relations - the course will consider some of the most important events and processes which have shaped Western European politics since 1945. The course will focus on these key areas: Transatlantic relations since 1945, and how the US has helped shape political developments in Western Europe during this period; How the Second World War and the crystallisation of the Cold War affected Western Europe’s political development; Some of the most important issues and processes in Western Europe’s politics since 1945. 
  • Polish language - from elementary to advanced,levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1  
  • French language - Elementary French, level A1, A2 
  • Other courses: students may sign up for courses all over the university during add/drop

ALL INCLUSIVE PROGRAM COST: $ 7,999 USD

There is a $95 non-refundable application fee to apply for the program.
Fees can be paid in USD or by credit card in any currency upon request.

Academic Program

  • Each course is 6 ECTS credits roughly 3 semester hours

Housing in Krakow

  • Students will live in a dormitory in double rooms (with one bathroom per two rooms), fully equipped with towels, sheets etc.  
  • At the dormitory there is a club, cafeteria and post office, as well as a newspaper and souvenir stall 
  • The participant can access the Internet inside his/her room, using his/her own properly configured laptop 
  • The number of single rooms is limited. Accommodation in such rooms is possible upon prior reservation for extra cost 
  • The program cannot assist participants in finding private accommodation
