Spring Business Study Abroad Program in Prague

This exciting spring business program lets students experience the beautiful and historic city of Prague while earning credit at the University of Economics. The University of Economics was founded in 1919 and is accredited by the Czech ministry of education. The program provides studies in the economies, societies and cultures of Central and East European countries.  The courses include business practicalities, marketing, history and culture. Students can choose to study four to five courses.

Summer students

  • 2 day trip to Krakow, Poland - March
  • 2 day trip to Vienna, Austria - April
  • 2 day trip to Berlin, Germany - May
  • End of classes: May 11
  • Departure dates: May 12-13

Course Details:
  • Each course = 6 ECTS or 3 US credits 
  • Each course is 4 teaching hours per week
  • Fridays are usually free for study tours, homework, attending guest lectures, or other activities
  • Students should choose at least three courses, although under special circumstances permission may be granted for a student to take fewer

There is a $95 non-refundable application fee to apply for the program. 
Fees can be paid in USD or by credit card in any currency upon request.

This fee does not include meals, outside travel, and local and international transportation.

Admission Requirements:

  • Application deadline: November 10th (Contact us for late applications)
  • The program accepts both graduate and undergraduate students. Roughly half of the students attending the program already have an undergraduate degree and half of them are pursuing their undergraduate degrees. 
  • The student must have at least a 2.5 grade point average on a scale of 4.0 or an equivalent good standing at the home university
  • Admission is based on the student’s university transcript, application, resume (CV), and English language knowledge
  • It is required that a student applying for admission must have at least one year (2 semesters) finished at his/her university.

International Excursions:

 Vienna, Austria: Students will explore the beautiful historical center of the city including Stephansdom and the Hofburg. A tour inside the Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence tops off the excursion. 

Berlin, Germany: Students will explore the modern center of Berlin as well as the Brandenburg gate, Jewish Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie and the remains of the Berlin Wall. A tour of the beautiful and historical city of Potsdam completes the excursion.  

Krakow, Poland: Students will explore the historical center of Krakow including the old town square and market and tour of the Wawel castle area. Just outside the city, students visit the world famous Salt mine Wieliczka and its beautiful salt carvings. Finally, students will journey to the infamous former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.

Apartment Residence Details

The building was totally reconstructed in 2016!

The residence has a capacity of housing approximately 50 students at a time. There are 5 floors with an elevator going to all levels. Every room is completely furnished with modern IKEA furniture and a refrigerator and kitchenette. There is bathroom in each apartment shared by two rooms.

There is a common lounge, big kitchen and laundry facility in the basement. You can meet other students in our common room which is equipped with a large TV, sitting area and also use the common kitchen with all necessary equipment. The backyard has an open sitting area for relaxing where smoking is permitted.

The program cost includes a double room in an apartment. A single room is available for an extra fee. 

The high quality and modern apartment residence opens its doors to students seeking comfort and convenience in the heart of the city! It is a home away from home experience for all students with amenities designed specifically to facilitate and support their educational endeavour.

Great Location: 

Location, location, location! We are confident that we offer our students the most centrally located accommodation of the highest quality of any program in Prague! The central location of our facility is ideal and will prove very beneficial to all students. Students are within minutes of the IP Pavlova transportation hub. There is a subway stop and the biggest tram stop in Prague, where all the trams come together. There are restaurants, mini markets, bars and clubs and ATM's all around. There is a post office and pharmacy nearby.

The student residence has a reception providing helpful assistance and a printing facility to copy, scan, and print. There is WiFi and cable ethernet throughout the building. There is also a laundry facility including an iron, ironing board and washing machines. There is a small fee for printing and for laundry detergent. There is extra storage space for luggage or bikes in the basement.
